Shane Regan has been selected as a 1st-Team All-American by D3hoops.com, as released by national website on Tuesday afternoon.

Regan put up one of the best seasons ever recorded at the University of Chicago as the graduate student led the team with 19.5 points and 5.3 assists, and he added 4.7 rebounds per game.

The Larchmont, New York native tallied three double-doubles in UAA play, and he recorded the first triple-double in University of Chicago men's basketball history with 12 points, 11 assists, and 10 rebounds in a win at Rochester. Shane caps off his season ranked top-10 in several single-season stat categories in UChicago history including 3rd in Assists (154), 3rd in Points (565), 3rd in FG Made (201), and 5th in Free Throws Made (130).

Regan was joined by Ben Pearce of Emory, Luke Chicone of John Carroll, Noah Cleveland of Illinois Wesleyan, and Jalen Overway of Calvin on the 1st-Team All-America list. The full All-American team can be seen

HERE. Shane is the first University of Chicago player to earn All-America honors since

Nate Hainje in 2007-08. He is also just the fifth overall player in UChicago history to be named an All-American, joining Hainje,

Derek Reich,

Aaron Horne, and

Rusty Loyd.

Regan caps off his career as a 2-time All-American, 3-time 1st-Team All-Regon, and 3-time 1st-Team All-Conference player, and he tallied career totals of 1,760 points, 437 rebounds, 372 assists, and 88 steals while shooitng over 50% from the floor and 33% from three.

The Maroons had one of the best seasons in University of Chicago basketball history this year with a 24-5 record overall and a 11-3 record in UAA play. The 24 wins this season ranked as the second-most wins in program history, trailing only the 1919-20 team that finished 27-8 on the year. UChicago reached the National Quarterfinals for just the second time in program history with wins over Penn State Behrend, #24 Otterbein, and #7 Gustavus Adolphus before falling to #5 Mary Washington in Fort Wayne last weekend.
