CHICAGO -- University of Chicago junior Cooper Costello was named the UAA Men's Swimmer of the Week, as announced by the University Athletic Association on Monday afternoon.

Costello won five national championships and brought home seven 1st-Team All-America honors over the weekend with a clean sweep in his individual events and a pair of relay titles to help lead the Maroons to a third-place finish in the National Championships.

The Goleta, California native broke the NCAA Record in the 100 Fly with a time of 45.85 seconds, and he won the 200 Fly title by over 2.5 seconds with a time of 1:42.98. He also won the 200 IM with a time of 1:45.13.

In the relay events, the double major in Chemistry and French won the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:18.57 and the 400 Free Relay with an NCAA Record time of 2:53.33, winning by 1.4 seconds. He also finished second in both the 800 Free Relay and 400 Medley Relay, despite the team breaking the old NCAA record in the 800 Free and topping the 2025 National Championship time by 0.9 seconds.

The Athlete of the Week award is the fourth of the season and fifth of the career for Costello, and it is the eleventh Athlete of the Week award for the men's swimming and diving team this season.

Costello and the rest of the UChicago men's swimming & diving team wrapped up their season last week as the Maroons brought home their fifth consecutive third-place finish in the 2026 National Championships in Indianapolis.
