#4 Men's Swim and Dive Finishes Day Three in Second Place
INDIANAPOLIS -- The 4th-ranked University of Chicago men's swimming & diving team finished day three at the 2026 National Championships sitting in second place in the overall standings. The Maroons took home one national championship and six All-American honors.
INDIANAPOLIS -- The 4th-ranked University of Chicago men's swimming & diving team finished day three at the 2026 National Championships sitting in second place in the overall standings. The Maroons took home one national championship and six All-American honors.
Earning his third national championship of the meet,
Cooper Costello dominated in the 200 butterfly, beating his opponents by almost three total seconds. The junior recorded a time of 1:42.98 to record a new personal best.
The Maroons' 800 freestyle relay team picked up a second-place finish in the event. The team of
John Butler and Costello recorded a new school record by four seconds with their time of 6:22.72.
Ethan Taylor rounded out the Maroons' All-American finishes with a fifth-place performance in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 51.82, just a second shy of the UChicago school record.
Heading into day four of the championships, the Maroons sit in second in the overall standings. Prelims begin at 10 a.m., and finals start at 6 p.m. tomorrow.
