Men's Swim & Dive to Send 12 Athletes to 2026 DIII National Championships

CHICAGO -- The 4th-ranked University of Chicago men's swimming & diving team had 12 student-athletes selected to compete in the 2026 NCAA Division III National Championships, as announced by the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

CHICAGO -- The 4th-ranked University of Chicago men's swimming & diving team had 12 student-athletes selected to compete in the 2026 NCAA Division III National Championships, as announced by the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

Cooper Costello enters as the #1 overall seed and National Champion favorite in three different events, including the 100 Butterfly, 200 Butterfly, and 200 IM.

John Butler is a top-5 seed in all three of his events at this year's championship. He enters as the #2 seed in the 200 Free, the #3 seed in the 50 Free, and the #5 seed in the 100 Free.

Ethan Taylor and

** **Alex Schwartz each enter as a top-5 seed in one of their three events in the meet. Taylor earned the #4 seed in the 200 Breast, and he is also the #7 seed in the 100 Breast. Schwartz will enter the meet as the #4 seed in the 500 Free and the #12 seed in the 400 IM.

Misha Kojanov also added a pair of top-16 seeds in the meet as the freshman enters as the #12 seed in the 200 Free and the #16 seed in the 200 Back.

The freshman duo of

David Gutin and

Gray Spencer round out the top-16 seeds in events for the Maroons. Spencer earned the #11 seed in the 500 Free, and Gutin added the #14 seed in the 200 Back.

Igor Benderskii rounds out the national qualifiers for the Maroons as the junior will enter the meet as the #23 seed in the 100 Free and the #28 seed in the 50 Free.

UChicago also qualified for all five relay events in the National Championships as they look to repeat as National Champions in each of the three Freestyle Relays.

Armand Pierre Chan,

Rylan Kruep, and

Ryan Lobo will represent the Maroons in the relay races later this month.

Danyal Ghadiali will join the 11 UChicago swimmers in Indianapolis after the sophomore qualified for the National Championships with a pair of top-10 finishes at the NCAA Diving Regionals at Kalamazoo last weekend.

The meet will begin on Wednesday, March 18, and it will continue through Saturday, March 21 at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana.
