Fong and 200 Free Relay Team Highlight Day Two at National Championships

INDIANAPOLIS -- The 9th-ranked University of Chicago women's swimming & diving team finished day two of the 2026 National Championships with a pair of top-10 performances and a new school record. The Maroons sit in 10th place following the second day of competition.

INDIANAPOLIS -- The 9th-ranked University of Chicago women's swimming & diving team finished day two of the 2026 National Championships with a pair of top-10 performances and a new school record. The Maroons sit in 10th place following the second day of competition.

After earning a spot in the finals after a great qualifying round,

Veronica Fong took home an eighth-place finish in the 1M diving event. The senior recorded an impressive 419.35 score in the final round.

The 200 Freestyle Relay team of

Sophia Xu,

Adelia Biello,

Estelle Vernhes, and

Sophia Lee** **earned a spot at the podium with an eighth-place finish after recording a 1:32.83 in the relay. Xu's performance in her portion of the relay recorded a time of 23.20 to break the UChicago school record in the 50 freestyle.

The Maroons will return to action tomorrow with prelims beginning at 10 a.m. Finals will take place later on in the day at 6 p.m.
