CHICAGO -- University of Chicago sophomore** **Samuel Szerlip was named the UAA Wrestler of the Week, as announced by the University Athletic Association on Monday afternoon.

Szerlip led the Maroons with a first-place finish in the 165-pound division on Saturday afternoon at the Future Regionals at Adrian College.

The sophomore from Nyack, New York finished 4-0 on the weekend with two wins by decision, one tech fall, and one pin.

The Athlete of the Week award is the first of the career for Szerlip, and it marks the eighth time this season that the University of Chicago earned the UAA Wrestler of the Week honor, joining Matthew Barlay, Sean Conway,** **Gunnar Garriques, Maksim Mukhamedaliyev (3), and Jackson Rustad.

The 14th-ranked UChicago wrestling team will return to action this weekend for the NCAA Regional Tournament. The Maroons will travel to John Carroll University as the team looks to book their individual berths to the 2026 NCAA Championships on Friday and Saturday.
