CHICAGO -- University of Chicago freshman

Harrison Belden was named the UAA Baseball Hitter of the Week this week, as announced by the University Athletic Association on Monday afternoon.

Belden was excellent in the four-game series against NYU as he helped lead the Maroons to a four-game sweep, their first conference title since 1913, a program-record 12-game winning streak, tied for the longest streak since 1895.

The freshman economics major recorded eight hits in 15 at-bats with 8 RBIs and 7 runs scored.

The Hermosa Beach, California native also tallied four extra-base hits with two home runs while tallying a slash line of .533 / .588 / 1.067 / 1.655.

The Hitter of the Week selection for Belden is also the first of both the season and his career, and he earns the 10th UAA Athlete of the Week selection for the Maroons this season. Belden joins

Nathan Bae and

Erik Rindner as the three Maroons to earn UAA Hitter of the Week honors this season.

Belden and the rest of the UChicago baseball team return to action this week as the Maroons travel to Aurora for a non-conference showdown with the Spartans on Wednesday at 6 PM CT.
