Bear Beats: Episode 31, For Competition Through Apr. 5

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Bear Beats is a weekly release that will be posted on Mondays to provide a look back at the past week of action and to preview the events for the upcoming week. The 31st episode for the 2025-26 year will feature men's and women's outdoor track and field, men's and women's tennis, baseball, softball, and golf.

No. 5/7 Golf

  • WashU is back in action this weekend at the UW-Platteville Invitational on Friday, Apr. 10 and Saturday, Apr. 11.

  • The hammer throw and 5k will both take place on Friday with the remaining field and track events taking place on Saturday, beginning at 11 a.m.

No. 2 Women's Tennis

  • The Bears are back on campus for a pair of matches this week.

  • WashU will first face off against No. 4 Chicago on Saturday, Apr. 11 at 10 a.m.

  • Then on Sunday, Apr. 12, No. 38 Grinnell comes to St. Louis for a 10 a.m. match

  • Prior to the match with the Pioneers, WashU will have a special recognition for Senior Day.

No. 5/7 Golf

  • WashU is on the road to nearby Normal, Ill. for the Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling hosted by Illinois Wesleyan on Saturday, Apr. 11 and Sunday, Apr. 12.

  • The 36-hole tournament will be played at the Ironwood Golf Club.

No. 8 Men's Tennis

  • The Bears are back on campus for a Monday match this week against Greenville at the Tao Tennis Courts.

  • First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m.

  • Over the weekend WashU will travel to Fredericksburg, Va. for the UMW Invitational.

  • The Bears will play a ranked, bracketed tournament on Friday, Apr. 10 and Saturday, Apr. 11.

  • Teams include No. 10 Carnegie Mellon, No. 12 Emory, No. 18 Gustavus Adolphus, No. 6 Johns Hopkins, No. 17 Mary Washington, No. 22 Pomona Pitzer, and No. 13 Swarthmore.

  • Times and matchups will be available later this week.

No. 14 Baseball

  • WashU will host its final regular season home contests this weekend with a four-game UAA series against Emory.

  • The Bears and Eagles begin with a single game on Friday, Apr. 10 at 3 p.m.

  • The teams will then play a doubleheader on Saturday, Apr. 11 starting at 12 p.m.

  • WashU and Emory wrap up the weekend with a single game on Sunday, Apr. 12

  • Last season, the teams split the UAA series, 2-2, in Atlanta.
