Gorny, Coaches Highlight URochester All-League Lax Selections

Five individuals received All-Liberty League lacrosse honors, along with the University of Rochester earning two major awards, in the announcement of the 2026 All-Conference teams from the Liberty League on Tuesday.

Senior attacker

Alyssa Gorny was named the Liberty League Attacker of the Year, while the coaching staff of

Carly Ritchlin,

Gracie Giannettino and

Ben Hackenberg received Coaching Staff of the Year honors. In addition, Gorny, along with junior defender

Jenna Ufberg were First Team All-League honorees. Joining the group as award winners were Third Team selections

Anna Rogers,

Maddie Bunting and

Isla Ablin.

The Attacker of the Year award is just the second in school history for the Yellowjackets, with the only other Player of the Year honor being Anni McDonough back in the 1997 season. URochester's Coaching Staff of the Year award is the first in program history. Additionally, the last time the Yellowjackets received two First Team honors in lacrosse was back in 2002, when Jenny Rogers and Jessica Lerman were the recipients.

Coaching Staff of the Year

Carly Ritchlin, Gracie Giannettino, Ben Hackenberg – First Coaching Staff of the Year honor; The Yellowjackets enjoyed a terrific season in 2026, compiling a 12-6 overall record, including a 7-3 mark in Liberty League play, finishing the year fourth in the regular season standings. The 12 wins were the second-most in a single-season in program history, while the seven conference victories established a single-season record. UR was picked to finish eighth in the conference preseason poll, ending the season four spots higher than initially projected. As a team, the Yellowjackets established team single-season records in points (348), assists (118), shots (550), draw controls (258) and caused turnovers (200).

Attacker of the Year/1st Team

Alyssa Gorny (SR, A, Ellicott City, MD/Howard) – Fourth All-LL honor (2025 2nd Team, 2024 2nd Team, 2023 H.M.); The senior capped off her terrific career with another exceptional season, breaking several single-season and career records. Gorny finished the campaign with 65 goals and 23 assists for 88 points, adding 122 total shots (100 shots on goal). She added 14 free position goals, had four game-winning goals, 79 draw controls, 32 ground balls and caused 27 turnovers. The UR senior led the Liberty League in goals, goals per game (3.61), points and points per game (4.89) and ranked fourth in shots and sixth in draw controls. Nationally, Gorny was ranked in 11 different categories, ranking 31st in total goals, 36th in goals per game and 48th in total points. Her points, points per game, goals and shots on goal marks established new URochester single-season records, while the senior also became the Yellowjackets all-time leader in nine different categories.

1st Team

Jenna Ufberg (JR, D, Bala Cynwyd, PA/Jack M. Barrack Hebrew Academy) – First All-LL honor; Ufberg was the most physical defender for the Yellowjackets who caused havoc defensively for opposing attackers in 2026. She finished with a team-high 34 caused turnovers, setting a new URochester single-season record. In addition, Ufberg had 53 ground balls to lead the Yellowjackets, chipped in six draw controls and had one assist offensively. The junior ranked second in the conference in total ground balls and was third in caused turnovers, also ranking nationally in both of those categories. Ufberg also set a new team single-game record with seven draw controls, while also adding eight ground balls in a key early-season win over St. Lawrence on March 14.

Third Team

Anna Rogers (JR, A, Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) – First All-LL honor; Rogers broke out as a junior, becoming a dependable scorer for the Yellowjackets, finishing second on the team in goals (52) and scoring (69 points). She added 17 assists, took 114 shots (86 shots on goal) and matched Gorny for the team lead and single-season record with four game-winning goals. Rogers added 16 ground balls and nine caused turnovers on the season. Overall, the junior attacker ranked fourth in the conference in total goals and was sixth in total shot attempts, with Rogers finishing sixth in goals per game (2.89) and seventh in shots per game (6.33). Her best game of the season came against Clarkson on April 11, when Rogers poured in eight goals and added one assist. In UR's next contest against Utica, the junior matched the season-high with nine points, scoring six goals and dishing out three assists.

Maddie Bunting (JR, D, Williston, VT/Champlain Valley Union) – First All-LL honor; Bunting played and started 15 games for the Yellowjackets and was one of the teams top defenders and draw personnel. The junior finished the year with 48 draw controls, 29 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers. Bunting was top-10 in the Liberty League in draws per game (3.20), ranking ninth. On the season, she finished with three or more draws in nine contests, had multiple caused turnovers four times and recorded three or more ground balls on seven occasions. One of her best performances came in a victory over RIT on April 8, when she had 4 draws, 3 ground balls and 3 caused turnovers.

Isla Ablin (SO, G, Philadelphia, PA/Germantown Friends) – Second All-LL honor (2025 3rd Team); Ablin picks up her second straight All-Liberty League award after another stellar season between the pipes for the Yellowjackets. Overall, the sophomore appeared in and started 16 games, finishing with a 10.49 goals against average and 143 saves, leading to a .467 save percentage. Ablin had an 11-5 record and played 932:24 minutes in goal and ended up facing a total of 410 shots (306 on goal). In the Liberty League, Ablin ranked second in save percentage, second in saves per game (8.94) and fifth in goals against average. She also played the second most goalie minutes, had the third most total saves and added 36 ground balls, ranking in the top-10 in the conference. Across Division III, the sophomore keeper ranks in the top-100 in GAA, save percentage, total saves and saves per game. Her top games in 2026 included an 18-save performance against Clarkson, a 14-save game against Ithaca and seven other contests with nine or more saves.
