Rochester Sees Five Score Liberty League Weekly Accolades

Laygo was outstanding once again, leading the Yellowjackets to a 6-0 record to close the regular season. The junior hit .632 (12-19) with 10 runs, 3 doubles, 1 triple, 4 home runs and 12 RBI during six games this week. She added 4 walks and 1 HBP for a .708 on-base percentage this week to go with a 1.526 slugging mark. She was also 3-for-3 in stolen base attempts and handled 42 defensive chances cleanly. Laygo's best performances came on Saturday against Ithaca when she went 3-for-4 with 3 runs, a home run and 3 RBI in game one and 2-for-2 with 3 runs, 2 home runs and 2 RBI in game two, helping the 'Jackets secure the Liberty League regular season title and hosting rights for the conference tournament this week.

Broccolo pitched in four games and finished with a 3-0 record and one save for the Yellowjackets, leading to a perfect 6-0 week for the team. The senior compiled a 0.00 ERA for the week with a complete game and shutout, to go along with 14 strikeouts and only three walks. She allowed 11 hits and no runs across 16.2 innings. Broccolo's best game was a five-inning, no-hitter against SUNY Cortland on Tuesday, where she allowed just two walks and struck out three.

Oszer was voted as the Field Performer of the Meet for the Liberty League Outdoor Championships over the weekend, securing two wins and three podium finishes in the throwing events for Rochester. The junior won the shot put with a URochester record mark of 13.54 meters and also won the discus with a 42.30-meter toss. Her hammer throw mark of 42.98 meters was a career-best as well, ranking eighth in the field. Overall, Oszer now ranks #18 in Division III in the shot put with her winning effort from the weekend, with her shot put and discus throws qualifying for the AARTFC meet.

Hermann had two top-four results at the Liberty League Championship over the weekend for the Yellowjackets, helping the team to a runner-up finish at the conference championship. The rookie thrower finished runner-up in the hammer throw with a season-best mark of 53.15 meters and added a fourth-place result in the discus, finishing with a best throw of 43.00 meters. Hermann's hammer throw mark was good enough to qualify for the AARTFC meet later this month.

Murphy recorded four top-two finishes for the Yellowjackets at the Liberty League Outdoor Championships, winning both the long jump and triple jump as individual events. She also captured first place on UR's 4x400 meter relay and was on the runner-up 4x100 meter relay squad. Murphy's marks were 5.58 meters in the long jump and 11.84 meters in the triple jump, with the relays checking in at 4:00.59 for the 4x4 and 49.35 seconds in the 4x1. All four marks were good enough to qualify for regionals later this month.
