At the Navy Spring Invitational, Brian Schloeder cleared 5.40 meters in the pole vault, establishing a new program standard. Meanwhile, at the Virginia Challenge, Dane Eike broke a 38-year-old record in the 5,000 meters with a time of 13:44.30, surpassing Ronnie Harris' previous mark. Sophie Compton also made her mark, shattering a 14-year-old record in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:20.16. Director of track and field Jamie Cook expressed satisfaction with the athletes' performances, noting the significance of breaking three records in a single weekend.
In women's golf, the Midshipmen are poised for a potential third consecutive Patriot League Championship after dominating the second round of the tournament at the U.S. Naval Academy Golf Club. Junior Emma Tang leads the individual standings with a score of 2-over par 146, following a strong 1-under par 71 performance. Sophomore Vivian Cressman is close behind in second place at 4-over par 148. The team holds a commanding 12-stroke lead over second-place Bucknell heading into the final round, having posted a team score of 8-over par 296 in the second round.
The men's lacrosse team faced a challenging match against Lehigh, suffering a 19-7 defeat. The Mids struggled early, falling behind 11-1 at halftime, despite a determined effort to rally in the second half. Jack Flaherty was among the scorers for Navy, but the team was unable to overcome the early deficit. This loss puts additional pressure on the Mids as they look to secure a spot in the Patriot League Tournament in their final regular-season games.
Looking ahead, the Navy women's golf team will aim to clinch the championship title in the final round of the Patriot League Championship, while the men's lacrosse team will seek redemption in their upcoming matchups.
