The University of Rochester baseball team achieved a notable series victory against Union College, winning the rubber match 4-3 on April 12, thanks to a walk-off two-run single by first-year Teddy Monahan. Monahan's performance was a highlight, as he finished the game with three hits, including a triple, while driving in three runs. This victory followed a doubleheader on April 11, where Rochester won the first game decisively, 12-2, with a strong pitching performance from sophomore Andrew Lenhard, who struck out six batters. However, the Yellowjackets dropped the second game 13-3, leaving their overall record at 10-15 and 3-9 in Liberty League play. The weekend series was particularly poignant, as it honored the memory of former player Alexander Gonzalo, whose family attended the game and participated in a ceremonial first pitch.
In track and field, four members of the men's team competed at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic on April 12. Owen Bernstein ran the 800 meters, finishing 78th among a competitive field. Austin Skeete and Jacob Bernd both qualified for the All-Atlantic Region (AARTFC) in the 1,500 meters, with Skeete achieving a personal best time of 3:55.47. Liam Sakakeeny concluded the day with a strong performance in the 5,000 meters, setting a personal record of 14:48.43. The Yellowjackets will continue their split-squad weekend at the SUNY Brockport Multi & Invitational on April 13, where they hope to build on their recent successes.
