The Washington and Lee University women's lacrosse team, ranked sixth nationally, extended its winning streak to 13 games with a 10-6 victory over Shenandoah University on April 9. The Generals, now 13-2 overall and a perfect 8-0 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, showcased strong transition play throughout the match. After a back-and-forth first half, W&L pulled ahead with key contributions from Lara Baki, Katie Reed, and Kelly Polacek, ensuring a solid lead that Shenandoah could not overcome.
In baseball, the Generals completed a season sweep against Southern Virginia University with a decisive 13-3 win on April 12. Washington and Lee's offense was highlighted by Nathan DeWitte, who led off with a solo home run, and Alex Caywood, who contributed with a double that brought in runs. The Generals improved their record to 17-9-1, demonstrating a potent lineup that capitalized on defensive errors from the Knights.
The men's swimming and diving team saw four athletes named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, recognizing their achievements in both athletics and academics. Dalton Jobe, a standout swimmer, advanced to the Academic All-America ballot, with final selections to be announced on April 29. His contributions, alongside those of seniors Charles Byars, Leighton Chapman, and Jackson Hall, underscore the program's commitment to excellence.
On the women's side, Celia Bredehoeft, Paige McBoyle, Amelia Maloof, and Morgan Smith also earned Academic All-District honors, continuing the tradition of high academic standards within the swimming program. Bredehoeft's performance in the distance freestyle events has been particularly noteworthy, as she holds the program record in the 1,000 freestyle.
Finally, the men's track and field team split its efforts between the James Madison University Invite and the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell on April 12, showcasing the depth and talent of the Generals as they prepare for the upcoming championship season.
