The Columbia men's golf team made significant strides during the Ivy League Men's Golf Championship, moving up to third place after a solid second round. Competing under challenging weather conditions at Baltusrol Golf Club, the Lions shot a 12-over-par 300, led by first-year Alejandro Formosa, who remains in contention for individual honors with a total score of 4-over-par, good for solo seventh. Columbia trails Princeton and Harvard, the tournament leaders, by 15 and 14 shots, respectively, as they head into the final round on Sunday.
In parallel, the Columbia women's golf team also finds itself in a strong position, sitting in second place and just two shots behind leader Harvard after the second round of the Ivy League Women's Golf Championship. Sophomore Sarah Shao has been a standout performer, tying for the lowest round of the day with a 4-over-par 76, and currently ranks second in par-5 scoring for the tournament. First-years Kristina Xu and Camille Thai are also in the top five, showcasing the team's depth as they aim for their first Ivy title in nearly two decades.
Meanwhile, the Columbia track and field team concluded its participation at the Penn Relays with notable performances, including two new school records. Edward Blaha set a new mark in the men's 5,000 meters with a time of 13:43.48, while Jessica Thompson achieved a program-record height of 4.05 meters in the pole vault. The men's 4x100-meter relay team also excelled, winning their preliminary heat, contributing to a successful outing at this prestigious event.
