The University of Pennsylvania baseball team achieved a significant milestone by sweeping a doubleheader against Harvard, winning 13-7 and 10-2 on April 26. The Quakers amassed 28 hits over the two games, propelling their Ivy League record to 11 wins. Gavin Collins stood out in the first game, contributing three hits, four RBIs, and a two-run home run in the ninth inning. Junior Gavin Degnan also excelled, recording two hits and three RBIs in the opener, and maintaining his momentum into the second game with three hits and an RBI. The Quakers now hold a 17-19 overall record, inching closer to a postseason berth.
In softball, Jade Montgomery made history by breaking the University of Pennsylvania's single-season record for doubles during a tough 12-1 loss to Columbia on April 26. Montgomery's first-inning double marked her 16th and 17th doubles of the season, solidifying her place in the record books. Hannah Graveline contributed the Quakers' only RBI in the game. Despite the setback, the Quakers remain in contention for a postseason spot, currently sitting fourth in the Ivy League standings.
The women's lacrosse team concluded its regular season on April 26 with a narrow overtime loss to Brown, falling 14-13. The Quakers, ranked 22nd nationally, were led by Patricia Columbia-Walsh, who scored three goals and provided two assists. The team started strong, leading 5-3 after the first quarter, but ultimately succumbed to a late goal from Ruby Sliwkowski in overtime. Goalkeeper Orly Sedransk made eight saves, and the Quakers will now prepare for the Ivy League Tournament.
On the golf front, both the men's and women's teams competed at the Ivy League Championship over the weekend. The women's team finished fourth, with Mi Li earning a spot on the All-Championship Team after tying for fourth individually with a score of 225. The men's team placed sixth, with junior Hayden Adams also making the All-Championship Team after finishing tied for fifth with a score of 219. Both teams will look to build on their performances in the upcoming weeks.
Track and field athletes Kampton Kam and Jessica Oji excelled at the Penn Relays, with Kam winning the men's high jump and Oji taking the women's shot put championship. Kam's jump of 2.17 meters ranks among the NCAA's top 15, while Oji's mark of 18.15 meters marked her first collegiate victory. The teams will continue their season with upcoming meets as they prepare for the Ivy League Championships.
