Navy football concluded its season with an annual tribute ceremony, celebrating a remarkable year that saw the Midshipmen finish 11-2 and ranked No. 23 in both major polls. The team achieved back-to-back 10-win seasons for the first time in program history and secured the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy after a narrow 17-16 victory over Army. At the ceremony, safety Giuseppe Sessi and quarterback Braxton Woodson were named team captains for the upcoming season, with Sessi reflecting on the honor and the team's camaraderie. Additionally, Landon Robinson and Eli Heidenreich made history as the first Navy duo to be drafted in the same NFL draft since 1956, with Robinson selected by the Cincinnati Bengals and Heidenreich by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In track and field, the Navy teams excelled at the 130th Penn Relays, capturing two event titles. Justin Mumford won the 10,000-meter run, clocking the fourth-fastest time in Navy history at 29:01.38, while the women's 4x800-meter relay team, featuring Reilly Nussbaum and Julia, secured victory in their event. Director Jamie Cook praised the significance of winning at such a historic meet, highlighting the teams' impressive performances.
The Navy men's golf team participated in the Patriot League Championship, finishing the first day tied for the lead with Army after shooting a 13-over par 293. Jack Tarzy led the Mids with a tournament-tying low of 71, while Chip Deegan and Hudson Mitchell also contributed strong rounds. After the second round, Navy remained in contention, sitting in fourth place, eight strokes behind the leaders. The final round is set to conclude the championship.
Navy baseball faced weather-related adjustments, moving its series against Bucknell to Sunday and Monday. The Mids will play a doubleheader on Sunday, followed by a single game on Monday. The baseball team aims to build momentum as it heads into the series.
The Navy men's lacrosse team concluded its regular season with a narrow loss to Loyola, falling 13-12 in a tightly contested match. The Mids rallied from a five-goal deficit to tie the game but were unable to secure the win in the final moments. This result marks the end of their regular season as they look forward to potential postseason opportunities, contingent on other league results.
