Earlier in the week, the Lions faced Brown in a series finale, suffering a 16-8 defeat despite Tate Vogler's impressive 3-for-4 outing that included three runs scored. Columbia's focus now shifts to the Ivy League Tournament, where they will aim to make a significant impact.
The Columbia track and field team showcased its talent at the Larry Ellis Invitational, highlighted by a record-setting performance from senior Lucy Henkel, who placed fourth in the 800m with a time of 2:04.11, establishing a new program record. Sophomore Kylie Castillo also excelled, winning the 200m in 24.19 seconds and finishing sixth in the 400m. The men's team saw senior Haydn Brotschi take first place in the 400m, further solidifying Columbia's strong showing at the meet. The Lions continue to build momentum as they prepare for upcoming competitions.
In women's golf, assistant coach Katie Rudolph has been recognized as a nominee for the 2025-26 Division I Golf Pride WGCA Assistant Coach of the Year Award. This acknowledgment comes after Rudolph's pivotal role in leading the Lions to their first Ivy League Championship since 2007, along with two regular-season titles. Columbia women's golf will compete at the NCAA Ann Arbor Regional from May 11-13, looking to build on their recent successes.
