In track and field, Cornell athletes showcased impressive performances at the Larry Ellis Invitational in Princeton. Freshman Arianna Allen set a new program record in the 100-meter hurdles, clocking in at 13.62 seconds, which ranks her second all-time in Cornell history. The women's team also saw strong finishes, with Olivia Walters taking second in the 100 meters and Francine Stevens finishing runner-up in the 400 meters. On the men's side, Kameron Coleman won the triple jump with a leap of 15.02 meters, while Peter Northrup excelled in the hammer throw, placing fourth with a mark of 61.25 meters. Overall, the Cornell track and field teams delivered several top finishes across multiple events, contributing to a successful outing at the invitational.
Meanwhile, the Cornell baseball team concluded its series against Columbia with a split doubleheader on May 3. After a 7-2 victory in the first game, where freshman Trent Lopez excelled with a home run and four RBIs, the Big Red fell 2-0 in the second game, eliminating them from contention for the Ivy League Tournament. With a final record of 11-26 and 8-13 in Ivy play, the team will look to regroup as they reflect on the season's challenges.
