The Middlebury women's lacrosse team, ranked first in the nation, is set to host the NESCAC Championship Weekend following a commanding 18-6 victory over Bates in the quarterfinals. The Panthers, who completed an unblemished regular season in conference play, will face fourth-seeded Trinity on Saturday at noon at Peter Kohn Field. Middlebury aims to secure its 13th NESCAC title, having claimed 46 of its last 47 contests on home turf.
In track and field, both the men's and women's teams competed at the NESCAC Championships in Williamstown, Massachusetts. The women's team finished fourth overall with 124 points, highlighted by Lilly Wurtz's record-setting discus throw of 45.55 meters, which earned her the league title. Wurtz's throw not only secured her first place but also broke her own program record. Lily Haskins-Vaughan also shone in the high jump, clearing 1.71 meters for a first-place finish. Claire Palmer contributed significantly with a silver medal in the 5,000 meters and a bronze in the 1,500 meters. Meanwhile, the men's team secured third place with 141 points, led by a victorious performance in the 4x400-meter relay.
The Middlebury women's golf team, currently ranked 13th nationally, is gearing up for the NESCAC Championship in Williamstown, Massachusetts, starting Friday. The team looks to defend its title after winning last year’s championship with a total score of 936. Season Wei is expected to be a key player, having recorded top-10 finishes in all three spring invitationals leading up to the championship.
In baseball, the Panthers are set to host Bowdoin in the NESCAC Quarterfinals, beginning Friday at 3:00 p.m. Middlebury secured the second seed in the NESCAC West with a 22-10 overall record, looking to continue its strong postseason run after finishing the regular season on a high note.
Finally, Thomas Perry, a standout from the Middlebury football team, has signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League. Perry, who earned multiple All-American honors during his collegiate career, expressed gratitude for the opportunity and excitement for his new chapter in professional football.
