The Amherst College baseball team split a doubleheader with Williams College on April 19, moving to 19-9 overall and 5-4 in NESCAC play. In the opener, the Mammoths secured a 7-1 victory, led by right-hander Saahi Jetti, who struck out eight batters and improved his record to 6-1. The Mammoths broke the game open with a four-run fifth inning, extending a 2-1 lead. In the nightcap, however, Williams responded with a strong offensive showing, earning a 12-5 win despite Amherst's earlier dominance. Jackson Boyer and Charlie LaFreniere were key contributors in the first game, with LaFreniere driving in multiple runs. The Mammoths will face Trinity College next on April 25.
In women's lacrosse, the No. 5 Mammoths faced a challenging matchup against top-ranked Middlebury on April 18, ultimately falling 13-7. Bridget Finley led the offense with a hat trick, but it wasn't enough to overcome the undefeated Panthers. The game served as a farewell for nine seniors, including Finley and Anna Whitworth, who have significantly contributed to the program's success. With the loss, the Mammoths' record stands at 12-2 overall and 7-2 in the NESCAC. They will look to rebound against No. 17 Trinity on April 23.
The softball team struggled against Trinity College on April 18, dropping both games of a doubleheader by scores of 7-5 and 7-2. The losses brought their overall record to 8-18 and 3-9 in conference play. In the first game, the Mammoths rallied late but fell short, while in the second, they were unable to recover from an early deficit. First-year pitcher Gwen Religa showcased her talent earlier in the week, striking out twelve batters in a 6-2 victory over Springfield College. The Mammoths will host WPI for a doubleheader on April 25, hoping to turn their fortunes around.
