Despite a valiant effort from Connor Hartman, who scored four goals, and Riley McClure, who contributed three goals and two assists, the Bobcats could not recover from the early deficit. Earlier in the week, Hartman, McClure, and Teddy Rosen were recognized for their performances, earning All-NESCAC honors, with Hartman securing a first-team selection and McClure and Rosen named to the second team. This recognition underscores the team's growth and competitive spirit throughout the season.
In rowing, the Bates teams delivered commendable performances at the New England Rowing Championship, with the women's team finishing fourth overall and the men taking fifth. The women's first varsity eight crew notably placed second in their morning heat against NCAA Division I competitor MIT, finishing the final in fourth place but second among NESCAC teams. The men also showed promise, contributing to a strong overall showing for the program, which head coach Peter Steenstra praised for their skill and determination.
The Bates softball team secured a postseason berth by sweeping Trinity College on Senior Day, finishing the regular season with a doubleheader victory that locked up the No. 7 seed in the upcoming NESCAC Championship Tournament. Key contributions came from junior Zariya Anderson, whose defensive play preserved a narrow lead in the first game, and Brigid Gaffny, who pitched effectively in both games of the doubleheader. Earlier in the week, the Bobcats split a doubleheader with No. 19 Colby, keeping their tournament hopes alive with a strong performance against a ranked opponent.
In track and field, Bates athletes participated in the New England Division III Outdoor Championships, with senior Moriah Scharn placing third in the 100-meter hurdles and setting a personal record. Sophomore Madison Alves also made an impact, finishing 10th in the 100-meter dash. The men's team saw senior Aydan Gedeon-Hope excel in the 100-meter dash, where he won his heat and finished sixth overall. Both teams are preparing to send a larger contingent to the Farley Inter Regional at Williams College this weekend.
The Bates women's golf team concluded its season at the NESCAC Championship, with sophomore Isabelle Meltzer leading the team by finishing 22nd overall. The team placed eighth in the tournament, with Meltzer's performance highlighted by three birdies over the weekend. The season's end marks a period of reflection and growth for the program as they look ahead to future competitions.
