The Babson College men's lacrosse team captured its fourth consecutive New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) title by defeating MIT, 15-9, on May 2. Graduate students Joey Allen and Patrick McAleavey combined for seven goals and four assists, while Tyee Ambrosh was named the tournament's Most Outstanding Player for his defensive efforts. Babson's dominance was evident as they scored six unanswered goals and held MIT scoreless for a critical 21-minute stretch in the second half, solidifying their championship run.
In track and field, both the men's and women's teams showcased strong performances at the New England Division III Championships held on May 2-3. The women's team registered four All-Region performances, highlighted by first-year Elaina Head's impressive finishes, which earned her two major awards from the NEWMAC. On the men's side, first-year Brady Kirtland also stood out with top finishes, contributing to the team's overall success at the meet. Both teams had a total of 13 automatic qualifiers, demonstrating their competitive depth.
The Babson softball team concluded its regular season with a challenging doubleheader against Springfield on May 3, where they lost both games. This setback followed a previous match against Wellesley, as the team aimed to secure a spot in the upcoming NEWMAC Tournament. Despite the losses, the Beavers are looking ahead to the postseason with hopes of a strong showing in the tournament.
Next up, Babson's track and field athletes will continue to build on their momentum as they prepare for the upcoming championship events, while the softball team will focus on regrouping for the NEWMAC Tournament, which begins shortly.
