Bowdoin College is set to host NCAA regional tournaments for both men's lacrosse and men's tennis this weekend at Whittier Field and Pickard Courts, respectively. The men's lacrosse team, boasting a 16-1 record and ranked second in the Division III NPI rankings, received an at-large bid and will face the winner of Scranton and SUNY Maritime in the second round on Saturday, May 9. This marks the Polar Bears' sixth NCAA Tournament appearance under head coach Bill Mason, who has led the team to the semifinals in each of the past two seasons. Meanwhile, the men's tennis team, fresh off a NESCAC runner-up finish and ranked sixth nationally, will host a regional after earning a first-round bye. Bowdoin (17-4) is looking to advance to the finals site for the ninth time, beginning with a match against the winner of Farmingdale State/Roger Williams on Saturday.
In women's lacrosse, junior Grace Harvey and sophomore Katie Athanasoulas received All-NESCAC honors for their standout performances this season. Harvey, a midfielder, set a program record with 101 draw controls and also contributed 24 goals and six assists, while Athanasoulas led the team in caused turnovers with 37. Their recognition highlights a strong season for the Polar Bears, who will look to build on this success in the future.
The Bowdoin women's golf team competed at the NESCAC Championship this past weekend, finishing sixth out of eight teams at Taconic Golf Club. Despite not placing in the top tier, the experience gained at the championship will serve the team well in future competitions.
Additionally, Bowdoin will host the NESCAC Softball Championship this weekend at Pickard Field, featuring four quarterfinal matchups, including Bowdoin against Williams. The tournament begins Friday, May 8, with free admission to all games, providing an opportunity for fans to support the Polar Bears as they compete for the title.
