The Amherst College women's lacrosse team achieved a significant milestone by advancing to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019. In their opening match on May 10, the No. 8 Mammoths rallied from a three-goal deficit to defeat No. 24 Stevens, 11-8. After trailing 4-1 at the end of the first quarter, Amherst responded with a 5-1 run in the second quarter and tightened their defense, allowing only two goals in the final two quarters. The Mammoths improve to 13-4 and will face The College of New Jersey next weekend.

Meanwhile, the Amherst men's lacrosse team faced a heartbreaking exit from the NCAA Tournament, losing 14-13 to Stevens on May 9. Despite a valiant effort, including a six-goal surge in the fourth quarter led by Ben Wick, who scored five times, the Mammoths fell just short after trailing 10-5 at halftime. Their season concludes with a record of 8-8.

In baseball, the Mammoths are in the thick of the NESCAC Championship Weekend. On May 9, they survived an elimination game against Middlebury, winning 7-6 in 11 innings after rallying for three runs in the top of the 11th. Earlier in the weekend, they dropped a 6-3 decision to Trinity, putting them at 25-13 overall. They will face either Trinity or Tufts in another elimination game on Sunday morning.

On the tennis courts, sophomore Tina She and junior Andreas Sillaste earned berths to the NCAA Singles Championship, with She being named the NESCAC Player of the Year. She holds a 21-4 record and is currently ranked No. 5 nationally, while Sillaste has a 22-8 record and is making his second NCAA Singles appearance.

Additionally, three members of the men's golf team received All-NESCAC First Team honors: Jan Ebbinge, Andre Zhang, and Thomas Zhang, highlighting a strong season for the program. Ebbinge and A. Zhang earned their second consecutive First Team selections, while T. Zhang made an impressive debut as a first-year.

The Mammoths' athletic calendar continues with significant matchups in lacrosse and baseball, as they strive for further success in their respective tournaments.
