The Case Western Reserve University men's tennis team, ranked fifth in Division III, has been selected to the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship and will host the first three rounds from May 8 to May 10. The Spartans, who received one of the nine at-large bids after finishing second in the University Athletic Association, will face the winner of a first-round match between Lake Forest College and Ohio Northern University. This marks the team's sixth consecutive NCAA appearance and their fifth straight year hosting the opening rounds.
The 15th-ranked women's tennis team also earned a spot in the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championship, marking their fourth appearance in five years. The Spartans will compete in a regional hosted by Johns Hopkins University, facing Albright College in the first round on Friday. CWRU has reached the Third Round in both 2022 and 2024 and aims to improve its 3-3 all-time postseason record.
In baseball, the Spartans concluded their season with a narrow 11-10 victory over John Carroll University on May 3. After trailing entering the seventh inning, Case Western scored four runs to secure the win, with senior Sean Donahue contributing three hits and three RBIs, including a crucial two-run single.
The softball team finished strong as well, sweeping a doubleheader against Baldwin Wallace and defeating Heidelberg in a single game over the weekend. First-year catcher Sophia Becker was instrumental, hitting .500 with two home runs and earning UAA Hitter of the Week honors. Becker's performance included a two-homer game against Heidelberg, showcasing her significant impact during the Spartans' three victories.
