Victoria Wang, a sophomore at New York University, has secured her place in the 2026 NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Championships, set to take place from May 22-25 in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Wang's selection comes after a commendable season, where she posted a 16-9 singles record and earned Second Team All-University Athletic Association honors. Her journey included a notable performance at the UAA Championship against Brandeis, where she rallied from a significant deficit to clinch a pivotal match for her team. This achievement marks a significant milestone in her athletic career, showcasing her resilience and skill on the court.
The NYU men's and women's track and field teams concluded their participation in the Farley Inter Regional Meet, hosted by Williams College on May 9. Julian Aske highlighted the event with a first-place finish in the men's 800m final, achieving a personal best of 1:50.81, which ranks 20th in Division III this outdoor season. In the women's 1500m final, Katherine Cochran finished third with a time of 4:29.37, also ranking 19th nationally. Other notable performances included Beverly Okyere's personal best in the women's 400m, where she placed 10th, and Amalia Hronides, who took ninth in the women's high jump. The Violets are now preparing for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships, scheduled for May 21-23 in La Crosse, Wisconsin, as they aim to qualify more athletes based on their performances.
Earlier in the week, NYU's track and field teams participated in the West Point Twilight Meet, where Rina Kurihara finished second in the women's 800m with a time of 2:14.27. Huckleberry Oakes also made a strong showing in the men's 1500m, clocking in at 3:49.35, a time that ranks among the top finishes in Division III this season. These competitions serve as crucial opportunities for athletes to secure their spots at the upcoming national championships.
