The New York University men's and women's track and field teams competed at the Widener Final Qualifier on May 11, aiming to secure spots at the upcoming NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships. Julian Aske, who recently earned the University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week title, clocked an impressive 1:50.07 in the 800-meter dash, marking the 12th-best time of the Division III outdoor season. His performance followed a strong showing at the Rainy Farley Inter Regional Meet, where he finished first in the same event with a season-best time of 1:50.81. Rina Kurihara led the women's team with a 16th-place finish in the 800m, recording a time of 2:12.62, while Katharine Frank's 4:28.84 in the 1500m placed her ninth and ranks 21st nationally. Huckleberry Oakes also contributed with a solid performance, finishing the men's 1500m in 3:51.15. The Violets now look ahead to the NCAA Championships, set for May 21-23 in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
In golf, three members of the NYU men's golf team received recognition as selections to the NCAA Division III PING All-Region II Team. Jomyuth Luangtana-anan, Qi (Steven) Liu, and Oscar Uribe were honored for their standout performances throughout the season. Luangtana-anan's highlights included a tie for fourth at the Liberty League Championship and consistent top finishes at various tournaments. Liu also had a strong season, tying for second at the RPI Men's Collegiate Invitational, while Uribe earned All-Region honors with a second-place finish at the Liberty League Championship. Their achievements underscore the depth of talent within the NYU golf program as they continue to build on their successes.
