Junior Sarah Hughes led the Bobcats with a season-high 24 points, showcasing remarkable shooting efficiency at 7-9 from the field, including 4-5 from three-point range. This victory marks a significant milestone for the program, which had faced Bowdoin in the finals five times since 2024 without success. The Bobcats finished the season with a 24-3 record.
In men's basketball, Bates faced a tough challenge in the NESCAC semifinals against top-seeded Wesleyan, ultimately falling 66-49. The Bobcats kept the game competitive, trailing by just one point at halftime, but Wesleyan's strong second half proved decisive. Bates concludes its season with an 18-8 record.
Men's lacrosse achieved a notable upset, defeating No. 6 Wesleyan 13-11 in their NESCAC opener. The Bobcats maintained control throughout the match, leading 8-6 at halftime and shutting out Wesleyan in the third quarter. Connor Hartman started the scoring for Bates, and despite a late push from Wesleyan, the Bobcats secured their third consecutive win to improve to 3-0.
Bates women's lacrosse opened its NESCAC campaign with a challenging match against No. 5 Wesleyan, losing 15-5. The Cardinals dominated early, scoring eight goals in the first quarter. Bates showed signs of improvement in the second half, with goals from Laci Raveis, Lauren Wong, and Grace Yonchak, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit.
In squash, the women's team concluded its season with a 6-3 victory over Hamilton in the Walker Cup third-place match, while the men's team narrowly lost to Denison 5-4 in the Summers Cup Consolation Semifinal. Aasya Patel and Scarlett Hine were standout performers for the women's team, with Hine securing a decisive win in her final match as a Bobcat. The men's team saw Dennis Welte extend his personal winning streak to seven matches with a commanding performance at the No. 1 position.
Bates baseball began its season with a doubleheader sweep of Bard, scoring a total of 31 runs across both games. The Bobcats won the first game 14-7, with senior John Tully earning his second win of the season. They are set to host Brandeis on March 8 as they look to build on their strong start to the season.
