Washington and Lee University's wrestling team achieved a historic milestone at the NCAA Division III Region IV Championships, qualifying a program-record five wrestlers for the upcoming national championships. The Generals finished fourth overall, amassing 153.5 points, with Liam Flanagan (157), Carter Stack (285), Evan Lindner (149), Vincent Ziccardi (133), and Skyler Hickman (141) all securing their spots. The team had a strong showing throughout the tournament, advancing six wrestlers to the semifinals on the first day and demonstrating impressive performances, including bonus-point victories and clutch consolation wins. The NCAA Division III Championships are set for March 13-14 in La Crosse, Wisconsin, where the Generals will look to build on this success.
In men's swimming and diving, Washington and Lee secured qualification for five events at the 2026 NCAA Division III Men's Swimming Championships. The Generals earned spots for two individuals across three events and two relay teams, based on their performances at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships. This achievement underscores the program's competitive edge as they prepare for the national stage.
Meanwhile, the men's basketball team received significant recognition from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC), with senior Colin Ryan named the ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar Athlete of the Year and first-year Addison Newkirk earning Rookie of the Year honors. Additionally, sophomore Connor Amorosi was selected for the All-ODAC First Team, while Ryan also received a nod on the All-ODAC Third Team. Ryan's contributions on the court included leading the ODAC in assists per game and total assists, showcasing his dual commitment to athletics and academics.
