The Columbia wrestling team delivered a strong performance at the 2026 Ivy League Tournament, with three wrestlers—Cesar Alvan (165 pounds), Joe Curtis (184 pounds), and Vincent Mueller (285 pounds)—securing individual titles. In total, six Lions will represent Columbia at the NCAA Championships in Cleveland later this month, including Nick Fine and Jack Wehmeyer, who finished as runners-up in their respective weight classes. This impressive showing saw nine of ten Columbia wrestlers finish in the top three, underscoring the team's depth and competitiveness.
On the basketball front, Connor Igoe capped off his rookie season with a series of notable achievements. The Brooklyn native was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Year, becoming the first Columbia player to earn this honor since 1987. Throughout the season, Igoe demonstrated his skill by averaging 8.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game, while also recording five double-doubles, the most by a first-year in the Ivy League. He was recognized as the Ivy League Rookie of the Week for the fifth time after a strong performance in the season finale against Harvard, where he notched 14 points and 10 rebounds. Igoe's contributions were pivotal for the Lions, who faced a challenging season, including a loss to Princeton on March 11, where they fell 80-68. As the basketball season concludes, the wrestling team looks ahead to the NCAA Championships on March 17-19, where they will aim to build on their Ivy League success.
