The University of Rochester women's basketball team had a mixed weekend in University Athletic Association play. On Friday, they secured a hard-fought 57-54 victory over Carnegie Mellon University, managing to fend off a late comeback attempt from the Tartans. However, their momentum was halted on Sunday when they fell to Case Western Reserve University, 63-50, in a game where offensive struggles plagued the Yellowjackets. The team will look to rebound in their upcoming matchups as the season approaches its conclusion.
In swimming and diving, four members of the University of Rochester team participated in the Spartan Last Chance Invitational hosted by Case Western Reserve University. This event marked the final appearances of the season for these athletes, who competed on both Friday and Sunday. Their performances at this meet will be critical as they prepare for upcoming championship events.
Meanwhile, the men's squash team concluded its regular season with a challenging match against the 10th-ranked Cornell University, suffering a 9-0 defeat. Despite the loss, five members of the men's squash program were recognized for their academic achievements, earning spots on the Liberty League's winter sport All-Academic squad. This recognition underscores the balance of athletic and academic excellence that the University of Rochester strives to maintain.
