Caltech's basketball teams had a noteworthy week, highlighted by their victories against the University of La Verne. The women's team secured its first conference win of the season on February 19, defeating La Verne 47-41. The defense was particularly impressive, as the team executed a masterclass performance, with standout contributions from various players. Interim Head Coach Madison Quan also took a moment to recognize John Dabiri, the team's faculty liaison, for his unwavering support and commitment to the athletes.
On the same night, the men's team triumphed in a high-scoring affair, edging La Verne 88-85. Forward Dorian Glogovac made history with this victory, which marked Caltech's highest-scoring outing against Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) competition since January 2020. This win not only boosts the team's morale but also adds to the program's growing legacy in competitive basketball.
In addition to the games, Caltech Athletics is celebrating Faculty Appreciation Week, inviting faculty members to join in various athletic events and activities that honor the student-athletes and the academic community. This initiative underscores the importance of collaboration between athletics and academics at the Institute, fostering a supportive environment for all participants.
