Navy wrestler Danny Wask has been named the Naval Academy Athletic Association (NAAA) Athlete of the Week following his performance at the NCAA Championship, where he became the program's 16th two-time All-American. Wask secured a sixth-place finish, posting a 4-3 record at the national tournament. He began the event with a decisive 7-3 victory over No. 18 seed Colin Kelly from Illinois and then achieved a notable upset by defeating No. 2 seed Simon Ruiz of Cornell, handing Ruiz his first loss of the season. After a challenging quarterfinal match that ended in a 9-5 overtime loss to No. 7 seed Cam Steed from Missouri, Wask rebounded in the blood round with a 2-1 win over No. 12 seed Carter Schubert from Oklahoma, ultimately finishing with a major decision victory over No. 11 seed MJ Gaitan of Iowa State.
In basketball, Maren Louridas and Cam Cole have been recognized for their academic achievements by being named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Teams. Louridas, a three-time honoree, concluded her career with 122 games played and 101 starts, ranking among the program's top 10 in both categories. She has also served as a team captain and led the Mids to consecutive postseason appearances, including this year's automatic bid to the WBIT after winning the Patriot League regular season championship.
Navy's men's swimming and diving team is sending its largest contingent to the NCAA Championship in over 50 years, with five swimmers qualifying for individual events in Atlanta this week. Ben Denman-Grimm, Ben Irwin, Dean Jones, Chase Maier, and Michael Phillips will compete in a total of nine individual events and four relay events. This marks the first time since 1970 that Navy has qualified five individual event swimmers for the NCAA Championship, showcasing the team's strong performance in the Patriot League.
Next up for the swimming team is the NCAA Championship, which runs from March 25 to March 28 at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta.
