Bates College's women's lacrosse team delivered a decisive performance against Plymouth State, winning 18-6 in a non-conference matchup on March 25. The Bobcats established control early, scoring six goals in the first quarter and adding another six in the second to take a 12-2 lead at halftime. Samantha Collins opened the scoring just 21 seconds into the game, followed by a flurry of goals from Laci Raveis and Grace Yonchak. The Bobcats maintained their offensive pressure throughout, with Yonchak scoring twice in the second quarter to further extend the lead. This victory marks a strong start to the season for the women's lacrosse team, which looks to build on this momentum in upcoming contests.
In softball, Bates achieved a successful doubleheader against Babson on March 25, winning both games 6-2 and 2-1. The Bobcats showcased their offensive prowess early in the first game, scoring four runs in the first three innings, highlighted by Sienna Pietrasiewicz's RBI single and Maya Lee's unearned run. The second game proved to be a nail-biter, as Bates edged Babson with a late score to secure the sweep. This performance reflects the team's resilience and ability to perform under pressure, setting the stage for their next matchups.
On the track, first-year athlete George Klatsky earned NESCAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week honors after breaking the Bates post-1984 javelin record at the Emory Spring Break Classic. Klatsky's impressive throw of 215-11 not only secured him first place but also marked a significant milestone for the program. His achievement highlights the growing talent within the Bates track and field team as they prepare for upcoming competitions.
