Caltech's women's basketball team celebrates the recognition of sophomores Zeynep Goktepe and Carolyn Ruan, who have both been named to the 2025-26 Academic All-District team by College Sports Communicators. Goktepe, a Computer Science major from Istanbul, Turkey, has played in 44 games, starting 35, and has averaged 11.6 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. Ruan, from Cupertino, California, has participated in 42 games, starting 28, and has averaged 5 points and 1.8 rebounds. Both student-athletes achieved a cumulative GPA of at least 3.50 while playing significant roles on the team.
On the men's side, three student-athletes have also earned Academic All-District honors. Sophomore Stuart Florescu, junior Andrew Koclanes, and sophomore Chase Williamson have all maintained GPAs above 3.50 while contributing to the team’s performance. Florescu has played 23 games this season, starting 19, and averages 10.2 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. Koclanes has appeared in 74 games throughout his career, starting 10, while Williamson has also made significant contributions on the court.
In baseball, Caltech faced Simpson University for the first time in program history in a three-game series. The Beavers struck first in the opening game, with sophomore Quinn Hartman leading off with a double and scoring on a hit by senior Mark Hu. Senior Brendan Flaherty pitched effectively, limiting Simpson to three runs in five innings while also contributing offensively. Flaherty continued his strong performance into the next game, scoring the first run and helping the Beavers secure their most productive offensive outing of the season. The series marks a significant step for Caltech's baseball program as it continues to develop its competitive edge.
