The Wesleyan men's crew team starts the 2026 season with a strong foundation, ranked No. 2 nationally in the IRCA/IRA Preseason Coaches Poll. This recognition follows a successful fall season where the varsity 8 boat secured third place at the Head of the Charles and the Wormtown Chase. With the Cardinals looking to defend their title as 2024 Division III National Champions, they will open their spring campaign against Coast Guard on Saturday.
At the UMass Flagship Opener, both the men's and women's track and field teams demonstrated competitive prowess with multiple top finishes. Noah Mahoney '27 led the men's team by winning the 5000m with a time of 14:56.83. The squad accumulated 10 Top 5 placements, including Auren Director '29, who finished second in the 100m at 11.27, and Knox Wallask '29, who placed fourth in both the 800m and 1500m events. Meanwhile, the women's team also achieved 10 Top 5 finishes, highlighted by Alexandra Neubert '29's second-place finish in the triple jump at 10.91m and Amelia Goettsch '29, who earned second in the 400m with a time of 59.26. Both track teams will compete again on April 4 at the Amherst Spring Fling.
In academic achievements, the Wesleyan wrestling team has been recognized for its excellence off the mat, posting the second-highest team GPA in NCAA Division III at 3.846. Four wrestlers earned Scholar All-American honors for their academic accomplishments, including Hayden Myers '26 and Ike Guttentag '26. This recognition underscores the program's commitment to balancing athletics with academic success.
