Harvard Football concluded its spring practice schedule with an annual scrimmage on April 11, showcasing the team's progress under clear skies. Dante Torres connected with tight end Logan Reaska for a 99-yard touchdown, highlighting Reaska's potential after a solid previous season. Defensive standout Xaden Benson intercepted a pass early in the second quarter, while fellow rising junior Sean Line also made a significant play with a near pick-six. All-Ivy League kicker Kieran Corr demonstrated his prowess with a 47-yard field goal, reinforcing his role as a key player heading into the upcoming season.
In women's lacrosse, the Crimson faced a challenging matchup against Cornell on April 11, ultimately falling 13-11 despite a strong third-quarter comeback. Harvard, now 1-4 in Ivy League play, started strong with goals from Kate Gilliam and Charlotte Hodgson, who netted two in quick succession. However, Cornell responded with a series of goals to take control. Although Harvard rallied in the second half, two late goals from Cornell sealed the Crimson's fate in their final home game of the season.
The men's golf team is gearing up for the Princeton Invitational, scheduled for April 15-16. This tournament serves as a crucial preparation for the Ivy League Championship later this month. The Crimson will compete against all seven Ivy League teams at the Springdale Golf Club, looking to build momentum as they approach the conference tournament.
In women's swimming and diving, the season concluded with a commendable 9-1 dual-meet record. Under coach Amanda Kulik, the team celebrated multiple Ivy League champions, including Alexandra Bastone in the 500 free and Anya Mostek in both the 100 and 200 back. Mostek's exceptional performance earned her the Ivy League Career High Point Swimmer award, while Nina Janmyr was recognized as the Career High Point Diver. The team's successful season included sending four athletes to the NCAA Championships, marking another strong year for Harvard swimming.
The women's hockey team recently held its annual banquet, celebrating a season of growth and achievement. Ainsley Tuffy received the Most Impactful Player Award for her outstanding performance as a goaltender, finishing the season with a .950 save percentage, ranking among the best in the NCAA. The team also honored its seniors and announced captains for the upcoming season, setting a positive tone for the future.
Finally, in men's basketball, Mike Sotsky has been promoted to Associate Head Coach after a decade with the program. This marks a significant milestone for the coaching staff under Tommy Amaker, reflecting Sotsky's contributions to the team's success, including two Ivy League titles and multiple postseason appearances.
