Dartmouth men's hockey coach Reid Cashman has been awarded the prestigious Spencer Penrose Award, recognizing him as the Division I Men's Ice Hockey Coach of the Year. This accolade marks a significant milestone for the program, as Cashman becomes only the second Dartmouth coach to receive this honor since its inception in 1951. Under his leadership, the team achieved a program-record 23 wins, secured its first ECAC Hockey Tournament Championship, and made its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1980. Athletic Director Mike Harrity praised Cashman's vision and leadership, emphasizing the remarkable transformation of the program.
In track and field, the Dartmouth teams competed at the UConn Dog Fight, showcasing strong performances in their outdoor season opener. J'Voughnn Blake highlighted the men's efforts with a first-place finish in the 800 meters, while Colton McMaster secured a podium spot with a third-place finish in the hammer throw. On the women's side, Virginia Averyt also earned a top-three result, placing third in the 5000 meters. Both the men's and women's 4x100 relay teams delivered commendable performances, setting the stage for further competitions in South Florida and Providence next weekend.
The Dartmouth swimming and diving teams celebrated academic excellence as eight athletes received CSC Academic All-District recognition. This honor is awarded to student-athletes who maintain a GPA of 3.50 or higher and meet specific competitive criteria. Among the honorees, junior Carinn Bethea stood out, scoring A-final points in two events at the Ivy League Championship and achieving multiple personal bests throughout the season.
Dartmouth football commenced its spring practice on April 8, gearing up for the 2026 season following a 7-3 record last year. The Big Green will practice three times a week until May 9, culminating in an annual spring game at Buddy Teevens Stadium. Coach McCorkle emphasized the importance of this period for player development and team cohesion as they prepare for the upcoming season.
