In a remarkable display of resilience, the Brown men's lacrosse team overcame a seven-goal deficit to defeat Dartmouth 17-16 in overtime on April 11. With just over five minutes remaining in the third quarter, the Bears trailed 15-8. However, they mounted a comeback led by sophomore Brady O'Kane, who scored the game-winning goal and finished with four goals overall. Teammate Jameson Steele also contributed significantly with five goals, while Henry Brayer dominated the face-off circle, winning 24 of 36 and recording 18 ground balls, the second-most in a single game nationally this season.
The Brown football program held its Annual Awards Banquet on April 11, reflecting on the 2025 season and honoring standout players. Senior linebacker Ryan Haley and quarterback Ty Holtz received the Eugene C. Swift '42 Award for their character and leadership. Senior wide receiver Solomon Miller was recognized with the Edward T. Brackett '14 Award for his significant improvement throughout his varsity career, while defensive linemen Nolan Clark and Pat O'Neill were honored with the Charles E. Young - Hillhouse Ltd. Award.
Brown's track and field teams competed at the UMass Commonwealth Invitational and the Friar Invitational over the weekend, where four Bears achieved top-10 all-time school marks. Senior Julia Schriefer clocked a mile time of 4:49.67, ranking third in school history. Sophomore Colin Fisher also shone in the mile with a time of 4:05.16, while senior Nimrit Ahuja's 5000m time of 16:26.85 placed her fifth all-time. Junior Ethan Wordell's hammer throw of 61.00m now ranks eighth in school history. Junior Alyssa Jackson excelled in the sprints, winning both the 100m and 200m events at the Friar Invitational.
In rowing, the No. 6 men's crew team competed at the Princeton Invitational on April 11, where they secured an Ivy League victory over No. 17 Columbia. Despite challenging conditions, the Bears displayed strong performances, with their Varsity Eight finishing third in a competitive field that included No. 2 California and No. 10 Yale. Meanwhile, the No. 9 women's crew team prepared for the Ivy Invitational, set to take place this weekend, following a successful five-win performance against No. 23 Dartmouth the previous week. The women's team will also face Columbia and Boston University in additional races on Sunday, April 16.
The Brown wrestling program celebrated academic success this week, with nine student-athletes earning NWCA Scholar All-American honors for their achievements in the classroom and on the mat. This marks the highest number of Scholar All-Americans for the program in a decade. Additionally, the team achieved the second-best GPA in the NCAA, further underscoring their commitment to academic excellence alongside athletic performance.
