The Amherst College men's track and field team achieved remarkable success at the Amherst Spring Fling, highlighted by record-breaking performances and nationally ranked times. Junior Jordan Harrison set a new school record in the 100 meters with a time of 10.52, currently the eighth fastest in Division III. Additionally, Charlie Spurrell established a new school record in the hammer throw, achieving a personal best of 56.21 meters, ranking him twelfth nationally. The men's 4x100 meter relay team also made waves, clocking in at 41.36, which ranks eleventh in Division III. Junior Parker Boyle earned NESCAC Men's Track and Field Performer of the Week honors for his victory in the 800 meters, finishing in 1:51.86.
The women’s track and field team mirrored their male counterparts with impressive performances at the same event. Piper Lentz won the 800 meters with a time of 2:11.64, while Madison Vant claimed first place in the javelin with a personal-best throw of 40.08 meters. The Mammoths also excelled in the 4x400 meter relay, finishing first with a time of 4:00.72. Myeh Medina continued her standout season, recording a personal best of 14.63 in the 100 meter hurdles, ranking her twelfth nationally, and a fifth-place ranking in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.04.
In addition to track and field, four members of the Amherst College women's swimming and diving team received College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors: junior Paige Arnold, senior captain Joline Fong, junior Maeve Kelley, and senior captain Donna Zhang. Arnold, who previously earned All-District recognition, excelled at the NESCAC Championships, winning the 100-yard butterfly and contributing to a record-setting 400-yard freestyle relay. The men’s swimming and diving team also had four athletes honored: junior Eric Albers, sophomore Jack Goepfrich, junior Henry Liu, and senior Fynlan Nadel. Albers performed notably at the NESCAC Championships, finishing fifth in the 50-yard breaststroke and fourth in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Amherst's basketball teams also saw recognition, with four athletes from the women's team—senior guards Annie McCarthy and Anna Tranum, junior forward Brielle Renwick, and sophomore forward Elizabeth Cain—and four from the men's team—senior guard/forwards Chris Hammond and Drew Martin, junior guard Marc Garraud, and sophomore guard Elias Chin—earning Academic All-District honors for their academic and athletic achievements this season.
