Bates softball faced No. 20 Husson in their home opener on April 7, battling not only the Eagles but also frigid temperatures and snowfall. After dropping the first game 5–1, the Bobcats responded with a decisive 10–1 victory in the nightcap, which was shortened to five innings due to the mercy rule. In the opener, Husson took an early lead, scoring in the first three innings and finishing with 13 hits. Bates managed to score only in the sixth inning, with Isabel Bettencourt reaching base due to an error and later scoring on Sophie Garber's single. In the second game, the Bobcats erupted offensively, with Ella Maher leading the charge with three hits, contributing to a total of ten runs against the Eagles. This split marks a promising start for Bates as they look to build momentum in the NESCAC.
In men's golf, sophomore Sean Resnick led the Bobcats at the Trinity/Hartford Invitational, tying for 15th out of 78 competitors with a score of four over par. Resnick's consistent play included a 71 on Saturday and a 73 on Friday, featuring two birdies each day. Junior Charlie Weinman also performed well, finishing in the top half of the field with a tie for 35th place. As a team, Bates placed 12th out of 14 schools at the event. The men's golf team will next compete at the Tim Brown Invitational at Ballston Spa Country Club this coming weekend.
