The Emory University men's basketball team's remarkable season came to a bittersweet end on April 6, 2026, as they fell to the University of Mary Washington in the NCAA Division III national championship game. The Eagles staged a dramatic comeback, erasing a 13-point deficit with less than five minutes remaining, capped by a game-tying three-pointer from junior Ethan Fauss. However, a last-second tip-in by UMW's Colin Mitchell sealed the victory for the Eagles of Mary Washington. Fauss and senior Jair Knight each scored 24 points, while sophomore Mario Awasum dominated the boards with a career-high 19 rebounds. This loss marked the conclusion of a historic season for Emory, which included a national runner-up finish and significant contributions from its standout players.
In addition to the championship run, Emory's Ben Pearce received the Trevor Hudgins Award, recognizing him as the top senior player in Small College Basketball. Pearce's accolades include being named the 2026 Jostens Trophy winner and D3hoops.com National Player of the Year, capping off a stellar four-year career that featured multiple All-Region and All-District selections.
The Emory men's golf team participated in the Capital City Classic, finishing in 10th place with a team score of 892 (+28) over three rounds. Junior Kevin Mu led the Eagles with a final round score of 74 (+2), finishing 26th overall. Freshman Dru Devata had a notable performance, shooting an eagle and finishing with a tournament total of 233 (+17). The Eagles began the tournament in 8th place after the first day, showcasing strong individual efforts despite the overall team result. Emory will look to build on this experience in their upcoming events as they continue their spring season.
