The University of Rochester has established the James Klimschot '78 Endowment for the Men's Basketball Assistant Coach, successfully surpassing its $500,000 fundraising goal. This endowment, the first of its kind at the University, honors the legacy of Jim Klimschot, a former standout player and assistant coach whose life was tragically cut short by colon cancer. The endowment aims to provide ongoing support for assistant coaches who play a vital role in mentoring student-athletes and fostering program excellence. This initiative was made possible by a lead gift from John '79 and Theresa '79 Mattioli, along with contributions from Klimschot's teammates, friends, and alumni, ensuring that his values of passion, integrity, and commitment to student-athletes continue to resonate within the program.
In swimming, four members of the University of Rochester women's swimming and diving team have been recognized as Academic All-District selections by the College Sports Communicators. Senior Morgan Edstrom, juniors Sophia Dmytruk and Julia Sides, and sophomore Amelia Hardiman earned this honor for their academic and athletic achievements, each maintaining a GPA of at least 3.50. Edstrom has been a standout this season, competing in nine meets and securing multiple wins, including a first-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle at the Ithaca College Bombers Invitational.
Similarly, three members of the men's swimming and diving team—juniors Nate Attwell and Max Wozinski, along with sophomore Connor Kann—have also been named Academic All-District. Attwell has been a key contributor, participating in all nine meets and achieving top-3 times in school history as part of several relay teams. His individual performance includes a 25th place finish in the 500 freestyle at the UAA championships. These recognitions highlight the commitment of Rochester's student-athletes to both their academic and athletic pursuits.
