The New York University women's golf team achieved a notable victory at the Jack Leaman Invitational, hosted by Amherst College on April 12. The Violets, ranked second nationally, finished atop a competitive 12-team field with a two-round total of +21. Jiayi Fu led the charge, securing second place individually with a score of +1, while Sonia Hao and Tiya Chowdary followed closely, finishing third and eighth, respectively. The men's golf team mirrored this success at the Dr. Tim Brown Invitational on the same day, capturing first place out of 17 teams with a total score of +16. Tanmay Chandra was a standout, finishing fourth overall with a +1 score, supported by Oscar Uribe in seventh place with a +4. Both teams will next compete in their respective championships, with the women's team returning on May 1 for the Liberty League Championship.
In track and field, members of the NYU teams competed at two meets on April 11, with mixed results. At The College of New Jersey's TCNJ Invitational, Daniel Lee excelled in the men's discus throw, finishing first with a throw of 43.90m. Emma Grunin also shone, achieving a personal best of 37.87m in the women's javelin for third place. Meanwhile, at the Bison Outdoor Classic hosted by Bucknell University, Olivia Jackson recorded a personal best in the 3000m steeplechase, finishing sixth, and Liam Hagerty secured seventh in the 10,000m Invitational. The track and field teams will continue their season at the Paul Donahue meet.
The NYU softball team faced a challenging series against Case Western Reserve University, concluding with a 15-5 loss on April 11. After a competitive game that saw the teams tied 5-5 heading into the final inning, the Spartans exploded for ten runs in the seventh to secure the victory. Earlier in the series, NYU lost both games of a doubleheader on April 10, with scores of 3-2 and 10-6. The Violets will look to rebound as they head into a three-game series against Carnegie Mellon University starting on Friday.
