67 Carnegie Mellon Student-Athletes Earn Spring Academic Honors
(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – A total of 67 Carnegie Mellon University student-athletes were named to the University Athletic Association’s (UAA) All-Academic Recognition list for the spring sports teams, as announced by the Association on April 16.
All-Academic Recognition is awarded to student-athletes who have completed at least one full year of college study and who carry a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.500. The spring academic honor roll includes 637 student-athletes representing teams participating in the four men’s and four women’s spring sports for which the UAA sponsors competition.
The UAA Presidents Council established a program of All-Academic recognition in April 1998. Qualifying student-athletes are recognized at the completion of the fall, winter, and spring
seasons each year. The honor is intended to recognize the high level of academic achievement demonstrated by student-athletes who effectively balance their significant commitment of time, effort, and energy in athletic endeavor with their highly challenging academic responsibilities.
Among the 64 Carnegie Mellon student-athletes to earn the honor this spring, three from the women's golf team, five from the softball team, five are from the women’s tennis team, seven from the men’s golf team, seven from the men’s tennis team, 14 from the women's track and field team and 25 from the men's outdoor track and field team.
