Diya Kumar Wins SCIAC Women's Swim & Dive Character Award
An astrophysics and planetary science double major with a penchant for helping others and always keeping a bubbly and optimistic personality, Kumar has conducted research into planetary system resonance chains, circumbinary planet detection, multi-epoch spectral data investigating the variability of an isolated pre-main sequence stars and submitted more than a half-dozen manuscripts for publication. The senior has presented on related topics several times at Caltech, CSU Fullerton and the APS March meeting in Anaheim. Kumar serves as a teaching assistant, member of the Astronomy Undergraduate Student Advisory Board, on the SFC Astrophyics Committee and STEM Outreach Club, as a peer academic coach and RISE tutor with plans to attend graduate school upon graduation.
Simon Hu wins SCIAC Men's Swim & Dive Character Award
Simon Hu of Caltech was presented with the Character Award. The two-year team captain, two-time Scholar All-American, DIII All-America Honorable Mention, five-time All-SCIAC honoree, NCAA National Championship qualifier and holder of two program records has done extensive work toward becoming a physician having already been accepted to Medical School upon graduation. Hu has conducted research in incology and drug development, evolutionary biology, neural regeneration and emotional and social cognition while also serving as a hospice volunteer, emergency medical responder, Caltech Wellness Services peer advocate and program director for ACEing Autism.
Dorian Glogovac Wins SCIAC Newcomer of the Year Award

Luke Lamitina Breaks Program Record in Javelin Throw, Earns SCIAC Athlete of the Week Honors
Lamitina won the javelin throw at the Pomona-Pitzer David Salo & Nancy Crenna College Invite by more than 11 meters.
Dorian Glogovac Named to D3hoops.com Team of the Week
Glogovac posted a double-double in the Beavers' victory at La Verne on Feb. 18, exploding for 41 points and collecting 10 rebounds while playing the full 40 minutes without a substitution.
