The Case Western Reserve University softball team ended its season with a decisive 11-1 victory over Brandeis University in the finale of a three-game series on April 26. The Spartans, who finished the season with a record of 21-12 and 9-6 in University Athletic Association play, showcased their offensive prowess with a six-run first inning. Senior pitcher Devanghi Misra delivered a standout performance, tossing her first career complete game, allowing just one run on five hits. Junior outfielder Alaina Steffes contributed significantly, driving in three runs, including two on a home run. Earlier in the series, the Spartans faced challenges, suffering two losses on Senior Day, despite junior infielder Karen Potts' impressive performance, where she went five-for-seven with two home runs and six RBIs across the doubleheader.
In track and field, the Spartans had a strong showing at the UAA Outdoor Championships hosted at DiSanto Field. Both the men's and women's teams secured All-UAA honors on the first day of competition. The men recorded two All-UAA finishes, while the women also achieved two All-UAA accolades, highlighting the depth and talent of the program as they aim for further success in the remaining days of the championships.
Meanwhile, the Case Western Reserve University baseball team faced a tough doubleheader against 14th-ranked Washington University, suffering two losses that dropped their overall record to 17-19 and 6-12 in the UAA. In the first game, the Spartans lost 12-2, with a significant portion of the scoring coming after the game was resumed from a previous suspension. The second game saw a closer contest, but the Spartans ultimately fell 13-6. Despite the setbacks, the team looks to regroup and finish the season strong.
Additionally, the women's basketball program is gearing up for its 2026 Elite Clinic, inviting participants to register and enhance their skills in preparation for the upcoming season.
