The Washington and Lee University women's track and field team dominated the 2026 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Outdoor Championship, claiming the title for the second consecutive year and completing a historic triple crown. The Generals scored a remarkable 258 points at the meet, marking the highest total since 1995, and achieved ten event victories along with nine additional All-ODAC performances. Notably, Cassie Carr shone with two individual titles, winning the 1,500 meters in 4:39.46 and setting a new program record in the 800 meters with a personal best of 2:15.37. Bailey Hedgemon also made history, breaking a meet record in the hammer throw and securing her third consecutive title in that event. The women's team’s success follows their earlier wins in cross country and indoor track, solidifying their dominance in the conference.
In men's track and field, Washington and Lee finished third at the ODAC Outdoor Championship. The Generals scored 18 points on the first day, highlighted by Mark Freeman's fourth-fastest time in program history in the 100 meters at 10.90 seconds. David Akinnubi contributed to the team's score with a sixth-place finish in the high jump, while Maddox Noll recorded a personal best in the shot put. The team will look to improve their standing in the final day of competition.
In lacrosse, the men's team secured the top seed for the ODAC Tournament after a thrilling 17-15 victory over No. 3 Lynchburg. Senior James Haley led the Generals with six points, helping to clinch the regular-season title. Washington and Lee will face Shenandoah in the quarterfinals, aiming to continue their strong season. The Generals finished the regular season with a 12-5 record and an ODAC mark of 9-1.
On the diamond, the baseball team enjoyed a commanding 17-0 victory over Regent University, showcasing both offensive power and strong pitching. The Generals scored early and often, with Nathan DeWitte leading the charge with multiple hits and runs batted in. The team will continue its series against Regent with two games scheduled for Sunday, following a weather-driven schedule adjustment. This victory improves W&L's overall record to 18-12-1 as they push toward the conclusion of the regular season.
