Lehigh University men's lacrosse senior Richard Checo has been named an Honorable Mention All-American by USA Lacrosse Magazine, marking his third postseason honor from the organization. Checo, who ranks second nationally in caused turnovers with 38 this season, has concluded his career with a remarkable 185 caused turnovers, solidifying his status as Division I's all-time leader in this category. His impressive performances included two games with five caused turnovers, showcasing his defensive prowess throughout the season.
In football, the program has announced the elevation of Alex Buchert to Tight Ends Coach under Vandergrift Family Head Football Coach Rich Nagy. Buchert, who has spent the last three seasons as an offensive quality control coach, played a significant role in the team's back-to-back Patriot League championships in 2024 and 2025. Under his guidance, Lehigh's offensive line has excelled, leading the Patriot League in rushing offense and setting a school record with 3,002 rushing yards in 2025. His promotion reflects the program's commitment to building on recent successes.
On the baseball front, seniors Cole Leaman and Owen Walewander have been recognized for their academic achievements by being named to the Academic All-Patriot League team. Leaman, who boasts a 3.79 GPA in economics, made 12 starts this season and led the team with a 4.21 ERA. Walewander, graduating with a 3.58 GPA in accounting, has been a consistent performer both on the field and in the classroom, further exemplifying Lehigh's commitment to academic excellence in athletics.
