The Tufts University baseball team captured its eighth NESCAC title with a decisive 16-8 victory over Amherst College on May 10. Tufts started explosively, scoring the first 12 goals of the match, including five from senior Allie Zorn. The Jumbos will host No. 13 Gettysburg College next Saturday, continuing their pursuit of a national title.
The Tufts softball team faced a tough elimination in the NESCAC Tournament, falling to Williams College 8-7 in the semifinals on May 10. After trailing 7-3, the Jumbos rallied to tie the game in the sixth inning, but Williams responded with a decisive run to secure the victory. Despite the loss, Tufts remains hopeful for an NCAA Tournament berth, with the field set to be announced soon.
In track and field, sophomore Lauren Zipoli highlighted the weekend by winning the heptathlon at the Williams College F.I.R.E. Meet, scoring 4755 points and ranking second all-time at Tufts. Her performance included victories in both the long jump and javelin throw. Meanwhile, senior Quinn Hampson and Josh Wilkie broke school records in the 1500 meters and 110-meter hurdles, respectively, as the men’s team competed at both the Williams meet and the NEICAAA Championships, where Hampson’s time ranks 16th nationally.
The women's tennis team is gearing up for the NCAA Division III Tournament, facing Hartwick College in the first round on May 8. After a challenging end to the regular season, the Jumbos will look to regain momentum in the postseason. Meanwhile, men's lacrosse, ranked No. 1, is set to host the NCAA Second and Third Rounds this weekend after winning their 14th NESCAC Championship.
